Liability Waiver
Last updated 4 October 2026
You agree to this waiver when you create a HuddleHoop account. It applies every time you take part in a game you found, joined or hosted through HuddleHoop.
Plain English. Basketball can hurt you. Courts can be in poor condition. Other players can be reckless. HuddleHoop introduces you to games — it does not run them, supervise them, or inspect the courts. If you get hurt, you accept that risk and you are not going to hold HuddleHoop responsible for it.
1. Assumption of risk
I understand that basketball is a strenuous contact sport and that taking part carries an inherent and unavoidable risk of injury. That includes, but is not limited to:
- Sprains, strains, fractures, dislocations and torn ligaments.
- Collisions with other players, walls, posts, equipment or the floor.
- Head injury, including concussion.
- Heat illness, dehydration, cardiac events and other medical emergencies.
- Hazards of the venue, including poor surfaces, lighting, or weather outdoors.
- Serious injury, permanent disability or death.
I am taking part voluntarily, with full knowledge of these risks, and I accept them.
2. Fitness to play
I confirm that I am physically fit to take part, that I have no medical condition that makes it unsafe for me to play, and that I have been advised to consult a doctor if I am unsure. I will stop playing if I am injured or unwell. I am responsible for my own equipment and footwear.
3. What HuddleHoop does not do
I understand and accept that HuddleHoop does not:
- Own, operate, inspect or maintain any court or facility.
- Supervise, referee, coach or officiate games, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
- Provide medical staff, first aid or emergency cover.
- Verify the identity, age, skill, fitness, conduct or background of other players beyond the limited checks described in the app.
- Guarantee that a game will take place, or that a court will be available.
4. Release
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release and agree not to sue HuddleHoop, its officers, employees, contractors and agents in respect of any claim, injury, loss or damage arising from my participation in a game found through HuddleHoop, the condition of any venue, or the acts or omissions of any other player, host or facility.
This release does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by HuddleHoop's own negligence, to fraud, or to any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If any part of this waiver is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
5. Medical treatment
If I am injured and cannot consent for myself, I agree that reasonable emergency medical treatment may be arranged on my behalf, and that I am responsible for the cost of it.
6. Looking out for each other
I agree to play within my ability, to respect the rules of the venue, and not to play in a way that puts other people at unreasonable risk. If I see an unsafe court or a dangerous player, I will report it at hello@huddlehoop.com.
7. Acknowledgement
By creating a HuddleHoop account and ticking the acceptance box, I confirm that I am at least 18 years old, that I have read and understood this waiver, and that I am agreeing to it freely.
